Weekday turmeric market in Erode, the center for India’s trade in this yellow root crop that is a central ingredient for curry. Today 63 lots were sold, 1400 bags, 80 kg each. 65 rp/kg average. The entire production is done by small-scale, multi-crop farms that average about 10 acres, and each lot is from a different farmer. The harvest was over 6 months ago, but turmeric has been stored waiting for the need or best price.
